Lots of Photos and A Little News

Ack, it's been three weeks since I've updated!  Mom and Dad's visit was fantastic.  We did a million things yet there were a million more things we didn't get to (just to name a few - Oxford, London and the Isle of Wight) that will just have to wait until the next visit.

Strangely, I didn't take many photos but here are a few from our days out...

This was probably my favorite day - a warm, sunny afternoon in Brighton.

It was even warm enough to have chips and a cold beverage on the beach.

We also spent a cold, rainy day in Bath where we started out at the Fashion Museum where Matt's sister, Ruth, works.

And, of course, the Roman baths.  And, yes, that's a duck over there on the right!

Of course, we took a trip to Stonehenge.  I'd never been even though it's only about twenty minutes away from Salisbury.  I'd had heard you couldn't get close to the stones any more and was expecting them to be so far away you'd need binoculars but was pleased to find that they were only about a hundred yards away or so.

On the windiest day of all we drove to Old Sarum where the remains of the original cathedral stand.

From the top of the fort ruins, even on a cloudy day, the view of the "new" cathedral was beautiful.

We also had lunch out at my mother-in-law's farm where we not only said hello to the alpacas...

...but we also got to see the twin lambs that were born a couple of days earlier!

Actually, when I say "we" I really mean "everyone but me" because while they all went to ooh and ah, I had to hang out on the porch. Why, you ask?  Because lambs can potentially carry diseases that could be harmful to pregnant women....

And I'm pregnant!  That's right, Matt and I are expecting a little acorn of our own in November!  I'd like to talk about it a little bit more but, honestly, that little acorn is getting hungry and if I don't eat something soon, I'll regret it.  I've been lucky enough to avoid morning sickness but I do start to feel a little nauseous, cranky and headache-y if I don't have a bite of something every couple of hours.   So more on our great news a bit later!

Oh and my cold beverage on the beach in Bristol?  My daily diet Coke!

This and That

Not much time to blog or things to blog about around here.  My parents arrive on Sunday (at seven a.m. - if I weren't so anxious, that would sound terrible) so there's been loads of painting, tidying, (ahem) stashing things on the third floor (which will be forbidden territory) and carpet cleaning.  Matt has done the majority of the painting and he's just been amazing.  He painted the upstairs bathroom last night and then decided to go ahead and tackle the hallway, too.  And he did all that with a little brush because we're out of rollers.

You know what's almost as exciting as my parents arriving on Sunday?  The fact that they're bringing me Kraft Macaroni & Cheese (the microwave kind because it's easier to pack).  I tried some "local" mac and cheese back around the holidays and was terribly disappointed.  And as good as homemade can be (we even bought everything to make it a couple of weeks ago but never actually got around to it), it's the stuff in the blue box that I've been missin'.  So I don't care what everyone else has for lunch or dinner on Sunday - I'm having macaroni and cheese.

Oh, my daffodils bloomed like a springtime firework display but I, sadly, never got around to taking a photo and they're now looking a little droopy.  They were gorgeous, though, and I got more than £2 worth of enjoyment from them.

And now I'm off to enjoy the freshly scrubbed tub with a nice warm bath....

Hey Matt, What Does This Mean?

Hey MattIt's time for another installment of Hey Matt, What Does This Mean?

Today it's all about the teenagers that, as adults, we hope we weren't like when we were younger.  I've mentioned before that we live on a fairly busy street just a block from at least one bar and not far from several others so we're plagued with these definitions almost nightly - definitely Thursdays through Saturdays.

chav: working-class or lower middle class teenagers are are uneducated,
uncultured and prone to antisocial or immoral behavior.  Chavs are all about the "bling" and designer clothing - imitation or otherwise.  Vicky Pollard is my favorite chav.

yob: closely related to "chav" - a young, obnoxious, aggressive young man.  It's Thursday so the yobs will be out in droves tonight, yelling and banging on the trash bins outside.

We use the term "yob" much more than "chav" and usually as an adjective as in "those yobby kids."

Tune in next time for more "Hey Matt, What Does This Mean?"!

Candy, Candy, Candy I Can't Let You Go

Twisted

Thankfully, I don't have to because this Cadbury Creme Egg in a candy bar is going to be available all year long!

And, yes, that is a picture of an empty wrapper.  They don't last long enough to have their picture taken.  It's almost nauseating how many of these I've eaten over the last few weeks....
